I’m back again with another . I purchased this one off Nourished Life but Kester Black’s own online store has a larger range. Both sites retail an individual nail polish for $20 AUD each – a bit pricier than most drugstore nail polishes but pretty much the same price as Essie and OPI nail polishes.
Compared to the Benecos nail polish(read the review here), this one definitely has a more stronger smell. It is free from DBP, Camphor, toulene, formaldehyde & formaldehyde resin and is also water permeable which means water can pass in and out from the layer of nail polish, also allowing the nail to ‘breathe’ so there’s no yellow tint to the nails when the polish is removed after a week or so (I only leave nail polish on for more than a few days if I’m too busy and forget to remove it). Hence, I was surprised to see that my nails did not turn a yellow tint after the nail polish started to flake and erode from modelmaking for uni (UHU adhesive melts off nail polish and model materials chip at the nail polish).
Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol/TrimellItic Anhydride Copolymer, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Polyvinyl Butyral, Trimethyl Pentanediyl Dibenzoate, Benzophenone 1, Dimethicone, D&C Violet #2, Heptane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Surcose Acetate Isobutyrate, Alcohol Denat, Perfluorodecalin, Trimethylsiloxysilicate.
The brush is quite stiff and flat so ensure that your base colour is dry before applying the topcoat in case it streaks it.
Drying time takes a while, almost a good 5-10 minutes for me as I found that I kept accidentally ruining the smoothness of the polish after a few minutes of application.
Overall, this is a great nail polish for people like me who wear nail polish for a day or so but frequently(like changing up colours) and don’t want to be exposed to carcinogenic chemicals. It’s also cruelty free which means you can look good and feel good!
Thanks for reading – any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!
