Aromatica Cypress dust cleansing shampoo review

Hey guys,

So in the beginning of this year, I reviewed the L’Occitane Revitalising shampoo which over the long term, dried out my hair and scalp leading to a worrying amount of dandruff, I was looking for a less chemical and harsh alternative. Several months down the track, I’ve found this cruelty and SLS free shampoo from this Korean brand.

This product claims to

‘This innovating slightly-acidic shampoo is ideal as a detox treatment to cleanse and rebalance sensitive or oily hair and scalp, but also as a treatment to relieve itchiness and eliminate follicle-clogging dirt, excess sebum and environmental residues, allowing healthier, thicker-looking hair to surface. It contains a natural botanical blend of ingredients-including French cypress, Scotch pine, Thuja extracts-providing an instant scalp relief with stress-relieving aroma. The refreshing scent of the extracts relaxes a tired mind by making you feel like walking in a dense forest with coniferous trees.’ (Source)

RRP: $39 AUD/ 300ml

The pricing of this shampoo is higher than the standard supermarket and even some of the higher priced shampoos.

I purchased this from the Boniik store in Town Hall. The prices for certain brands tend to range from being $5-15 AUD more expensive than online prices offered – I assume this is due to import taxes as well as shipping fees. What I really like about Boniik is that they stock brands that specially deal with skincare and such as opposed to drugstore makeup brands also have skincare lines – all in all, it’s down to personal preference and budget.

Ingredients (Source)

Thuja orientalis extract, Illicium verum fruit extract, Centella asiatica extract, Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, Sodium cocoamphoacetate, Sodium cocoyl isethionate, Glycerin, Lauryl glucoside, Verbena officinalis extract, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract, Chamomilla recutita flower extract, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, **Pinus sylvestris leaf oil, **Citrus paradisi oil, Panthenol, Polyquaternium-10, **Citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, **Cupressus sempervirens oil, **Eucalyptus radiata leaf/stem oil

As you can see with the ingredients there is a huge majority of natural ingredients.

Overall comments

I’ve been using this shampoo over the duration of 2 weeks – I wash my hair every 2nd day because it’s Winter. I would say that this shampoo is gentle enough to use daily and it’s light scent is friendly on the nose for people who don’t like an overpowering signature smell of a shampoo brand.

My dandruff levels have started to decrease drastically though there still are some dandruff flakes here and there but I’ve loved how my hair does not feel smooth and clean with the weight of artificial chemical coatings.

I would definitely repurchase.

Thanks for reading – any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!
